Betty Baldwin was born on January 17, 1889 in Leeds, Yorkshire, England.
Betty grew up in a family favoring the arts. She started drawing at the age of 6. Her first professional experience was at the age of 10, when she sold her own comic books to a newspaper. What impressed her boss was the multitude of details she was capable of as well as the accuracy of her representations.
Betty Baldwin lived in Paris before settling in New York and Portland, Maine. She made several stays in Ogunguit before settling in Quebec in 1924. Betty paid particular attention to the beauty and charm of Quebec and its surroundings.
Few works by the artist are currently circulating on the Quebec market. These would apparently have been given in a period of great productivity. This phenomenon would partly explain the rarity of his works on the market.
