Jae Dougall was born in the Philippines in 1956. She now resides in Victoria, British Columbia (Canada).
Jae Dougall is particularly interested in the representation of nudes and still lifes. Her paintings, inspired by modern Dutch and post-impressionist painting, present a palette where rich harmonies of pure colors predominate. Her style is unique and her lyrical compositions with their elevated perspectives are easily recognized. The artist begins her works with a dark background which becomes the basis of her light effects and her divisions of space. The fluid line, the extravagant and complex design, the rich chromatic harmonies and the use of patterns as well as an exotic atmosphere become the dominants of her work. Dougall believes in the power of objects to move the viewer.
“I love using and playing with multiple perspectives, making my subjects more and more varied and original. »
Since 1991, Jae Dougall has exhibited in Canada, the United States and Asia. She has participated in several solo and group exhibitions. Her works are part of numerous private and public collections, notably in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Montreal, Washington, New York, Boston, San Francisco, Atlanta, Tokyo, Hong Kong, as well as in Florida, Arizona, Carolina in the South, to the Island of Guernsey, the United Kingdom, New Mexico and Taiwan.
