Labelle, Leïla
Mixted technic

Leïla Labelle is a mixed-media artist from Montreal, Canada, with nearly twenty years of gallery representation and international exhibitions across Canada, New York, France, Italy, and Morocco. Trained in fashion, sculpture, ceramics, as well as Chinese calligraphy and ink painting, her work is shaped by travel, memory, and the dialogue between cultures.
Inspired by journeys ranging from the Arctic to Africa, passing through Asia and the East—particularly Japan—she creates paintings and sculptural works that combine handmade washi paper, natural pigments, photography, and ancient scripts. Her art unfolds like an archaeological vestige: layered, textured, and infused with memory. Indigo, the color of oceans and historic trade routes, recurs as a unifying thread.
Today, dividing her time between Montreal and Tangier, Leïla continues to enrich her artistic practice, drawing inspiration from Morocco’s vibrant cultural scene. She actively supports her Kasbah Cat Project, which she created in collaboration with the local SFT Animal Sanctuary. A portion of the proceeds from her art and textile collection, Parfum Bohème, is donated directly to this initiative.
