With exhibitions and curating nationally and internationally, Gwendolyn Brown's work can be seen in Italy, Canada, and throughout the United States.
The artist's work is motivated by his interest in the trivial gestures that we make on a daily basis. Working with the still life genre therefore allows him to demonstrate the way humans touch and manipulate materials in their routines. By using images of objects and materials that are familiar, Brown attempts to evoke memories and create psychological reactions in the viewer's mind, all with the idea of drawing attention to what may be neglected. The artist hopes that his work creates a space for contemplation in which small details, like light hitting an object or the intricate formation of folds in a sheet, can transform the mundane.
