The artist's work is motivated by her interest in the trivial gestures that we make on a daily basis. Working with the still life genre therefore allows her to demonstrate the way humans touch and manipulate materials in their routines. By using images of objects and materials that are familiar, Brown attempts to evoke memories and create psychological reactions in the viewer's mind, all with the idea of drawing attention to what may be neglected.
