A native of Montreal, Danielle Gagnon was interested in drawing from a very young age. Thanks to the encouragement of her father, himself an artist, she discovered a passion for this medium.
After her college studies, she enrolled in commercial design at Studio Salette in Montreal and then continued training in fashion design at Concordia University. It was only in 1990, after working for a few years as a graphic designer, that Danielle Gagnon discovered painting and developed a taste for it.
