André Schirmer was born in 1942 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Schirmer is a designer, graphic artist, illustrator, and painter. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts de Montréal in 1967. His pictorial work draws inspiration from the vibrancy of large cities, the movement of light brushing urban landscapes, buildings, and their passersby. He is particularly fascinated by nocturnal urban life.
