Appraisal and Resale of Artworks
Artwork Appraisal
Can you estimate the value of my painting?
We do not offer appraisals to the general public. Valuations are a professional service reserved for our clients and require seeing the artwork in person.
Is a photo-based appraisal sufficient?
No. The condition, authenticity, and other physical criteria can only be properly assessed in person. Appraisals based on photos have no legal or insurance value.
How much does an appraisal cost?
For our clients, a formal on-site appraisal starts at approximately $200. This price includes condition assessment, market research, and a written valuation report.
I’m not a client; can you still appraise my artwork?
We do not appraise pieces that were not purchased from us. However, we can direct you to a qualified third-party appraiser.
Selling Artwork: What You Need to Know
We often receive emails asking, “Can you buy back my painting?” Here’s our professional approach to resale, and how it differs when you purchase through our gallery.
Do you buy back artworks?
Our gallery does not directly buy artworks from clients or the public. This business model is not viable and would prevent us from offering the personalized service our collectors deserve.
Is the consignment service open to everyone?
If you purchased your artwork from one of our galleries, we may be able to help resell it through a consignment agreement. Here's how it works:
-
The artwork must be verified as purchased from us
-
We assess it based on the artist, condition, and season
-
If accepted, it is displayed and promoted like any other piece
-
You receive a share of the final sale price
This premium service is reserved exclusively for our collectors.
What are the advantages of consigning my artwork with your gallery?
We know the full history of the artwork—its artist, market, and buyer expectations. This allows us to:
-
Present the work professionally
-
Price it accurately for the market
-
Handle logistics, shipping, and framing if needed
Unlike a one-time transaction with an artist, a gallery provides long-term support: framing, appraisal, estate planning, and resale.
Not a client? Here are your options:
If your artwork was not purchased through our galleries, we recommend contacting:
-
The original artist or seller
-
The gallery where you bought it
-
A specialized resale platform or an auction house
These parties are better positioned to fairly evaluate and promote the artwork.
