Riopelle, Jean-Paul
Born October 7, 1923 in Montreal and died March 12, 2002 in Saint-Antoine-de-l'Isle-aux-Grues, Jean-Paul Riopelle is without a shadow of a doubt one of the greatest painters and engravers and sculptors of Canadian history. He was one of Paul-Émile Borduas' students at the Montreal Furniture School and then became an important member of the Automatistes artistic movement in addition to being one of the signatories of the Le Refus global manifesto. Her works can be found in the greatest museums in the world and her work Homage to Rosa Luxemburg is permanently exhibited at the MNBAQ.
