Born in Granby (Quebec) in 1938, Robert D. Simpson now lives in Montreal.
Robert Simpson is self-taught. He has devoted himself to painting full-time since 1974. Coming from a family that included many artists, Robert Simpson understood at a very young age that he had inherited a talent for painting and drawing.
Today he is recognized as a painter whose originality lies in the techniques he uses, after having experimented with them for a long time, namely a happy mixture of colors and textures. Wild landscapes as well as city scenes are characterized by the importance the artist gives to color nuances; these contrasts and nuances are skillfully expressed through Simpson's magic touch.
