Lapin Energizer : Partie 2

Energizer Bunny: Part 2

Hello, everyone, listen, I'm doing a little video message, it’s going to be easier. I’m following up on the letter I sent you in mid-January, which was called "Letter from a Tired Energizer Bunny." Well, that letter got a lot of attention, it’s incredible.

Right off the bat, I want to tell you that my goal was not to worry anyone, really not. I’m not depressed, everything is fine, all that.

It's just that I think I wanted to share the pulse of what we’re feeling here, in Quebec City, and in Montreal too, and Toronto because we’re there as well. A bit of the entrepreneurial pulse, the pulse of a person in business, yes, but also the pulse of a person who lives here. And it’s something special, everything we’re going through, all the tensions created by politics right now.

And it’s really something, with everything happening south of the border. Anyway, all that to say it feels good to share with you. And above all, I can’t believe the number of responses I’ve gotten, the number of people who have reached out to me by email, by direct message, and the number of people who came to the gallery to take the time to inform themselves. Listen, thank you, thank you, thank you.

This once again confirms how lucky we are to have one of the best crowds, one of the best clientele. I don’t know many businesses that have this kind of clientele, so I feel very, very fortunate.

And then, to continue, I must tell you I went on vacation, I had the chance to go on vacation. Marie and I went to Mallorca for a little while, we didn’t stay long, but we had the chance to go and we took advantage of it to mix work with sightseeing, some rest, and a little bit of personal development.

It was great: beautiful city, beautiful landscapes, and, since I can’t run due to my little running injuries, we did some amazing hikes, it was really great, it was beautiful. We came back here, made some big decisions, and we’re in the process of redesigning some galleries. We’re making choices about the operation of all the galleries, because we’re deciding whether or not to continue with all the galleries since the web is taking up more and more space and square footage is becoming more and more expensive. It’s probably the same for you, we’re looking at the necessity of keeping all of this in 2025, and it’s forcing us to make decisions a little more quickly about going abroad. Unfortunately, it has also forced us to part ways with some people, given all the uncertainty, and that’s never good news. For me, in business, I’m not in business to lay people off, I’m in business to hire people and move projects forward. So, when I’m forced to do that, it always makes me sad, but we don’t have a choice. On the other hand, I’d say the good thing is that the team that is in place right now, everyone is driven by the same desire to move forward with the same mission, and that’s really, frankly, motivating.

What’s coming from the South (from the United States), is it stressful? Yes. But once again, we’re not the only ones in this situation. In the end, we’re doing the best we can, and listen, three recessions, a pandemic, it’s just one more thing. So, we stay positive, we look ahead, and we’ll make the necessary choices. And above all, above all, thank you for being here. And listen, if you’re watching this video, share it with friends, share the newsletter, share the website, you have friends… more than ever, we’re going to need you in the coming months. We need to stick together, hold tight, and help each other. So, thank you for everything. I look forward to seeing you again.
